YOGA AS A HEALTH & CAREER TOOLS

On the occasion of World Yoga Day on 21st June 2021, NSS unit of S.S. Subodh P.G. College. Jaipur organized an International Webinar. The topic of the webinar was “Yoga as a Health & Career Tool”. Webinar was commenced at 11:00 AM with the College Kulgeet. Thereafter, Principal of the college, Prof. K.B. Sharma in his address said that the webinar has been organized by the college’s NSS unit. More than 1500 members around the globe participated in this event. Participants from New York, U.S., Australia, Dubai, Nigeria, Singapore, Nepal, Saudi Arab, etc. participated in the webinar. All the delegated were introduced and the participant were welcomed. How one keep himself healthy through the yoga can in this period of stress was the focal point of discussion.
Dr. Davendra Sharma, Convener of the webinar spoke about the conduction of the event & laid the importance of the yoga. He also elaborated the various activities been organized by the NSS unit of the college. Regional Director of NSS, Shri S.P. Bhatnagar, in his address said that COVID has turmoil the entire world. And in such situation, how yoga can be helpful in maintaining one’s health.
The keynote speaker of the webinar, Ms. Priya Vyas Hatha Yoga Acharya at Amber Traditional Hatha Yoga, explained how one can keep himself healthy through yoga. She also stated that yoga is helpful in all situations. Another Keynote speaker Founder Director Zenmei India China Yoga and Body Alignment School, Fujian China, in his address said that yoga can be also beneficial to make career.
Dr. Mukesh Chand Sharma, Secretary of the webinar thanked all the respected guests and participated members. In the end, National Anthem was sung. The webinar was compared by Dr. Richa Singhal. In the end it can be said that yoga is important in our life and through it we can keep ourselves mentally and physically healthy, It can also be seen as a career.

MENTAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH THROUGH YOGA DURING COVID-19

On the occasion of World Yoga Day - June 21, 2020, NSS unit of the college along with NSS Regional Directorate, Jaipur organized an International Webinar on the topic “MENTAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH THROUGH YOGA DURING COVID-19” in which more than 1100 participants from countries all over the globe participated. Sh. S.P. Bhatnagar, Regional Director NSS; Sh. Dharmendra Singh Chahar, State Co-coordinator Officer for NSS & NCC; Dr. Ravi Kumar, National Ayurveda Institute and Smt. Poojan Sharma, renowned psychologist from Nepal highlighted the importance of yoga and its importance in keeping stress at bay during the corona pandemic.

National Webinar on Revised Accreditation Framework of NAAC Quality Enhancement Practices in Higher Education under the aegis of UGC Paramarsh Scheme

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a National Webinar on Revised Accreditation Framework of NAAC Quality Enhancement Practices in Higher Education under the aegis of UGC Paramarsh Scheme on October 21, 2020. The keynote speaker Dr. N.S. Dharmadhikari,Educationist, Member– NAAC peer and UGC committee, spoke about the necessities under the various criteria in detail and talked about the do’s and don’ts in data compilation citing various examples. He also spoke at length about the types of best practices that can be adopted by colleges. More than 1200 participants from all over the nation attended the webinar.

Best Practices Webinar Series

It was indeed a moment of great pride when Principal, Prof. K.B.Sharma,brand ambassador under the UGC Paramarsh Scheme was invited by the most prestigious accreditation council, UGC-NAAC on November 6,2020 for addressing other NAAC aspiring institutions under its “Best Practices Webinar Series”. Prof. Sharma in his presentation highlighted the best practices adopted by the college-Administrative Practices, Leadership Development with Ethical Values & State of the art Infrastructure. He also shared the experience of dedicated endeavors in achieving the excellence status. The presentation was followed by question-answer round.

National Webinar on Financial Empowerment through Financial Awareness

A National Webinar on "Financial Empowerment through Financial Awareness" was organized by the college in joint collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds of India on January 9, 2021. The keynote speaker Shri Suryakant Sharma, Chief Consultant, Association of Mutual Funds of India and former DGM-SEBI, spoke about the relevance of the subject especially in times of the corona pandemic. Shri Nitin Joshi, Vice President-e-Governance NSDC also addressed the participants and answered the queries. There were more than 1500 registrations from countries across the globe.

National Webinar on Healthy Lifestyle for Cancer Prevention in Today’s Scenario

On May 30, 2021, NSS unit and IQAC cell organized a National Webinar on the topic "Healthy Lifestyle for Cancer Prevention in Today’s Scenario" in association with Sanjivani-Life Beyond Cancer, an NGO, in which more than 1100 participants taking part from all across the country. Sh. S. P. Bhatnagar, Regional Director NSS, being the chief guest of the webinar drew the audience’s attention towards the dangers of using tobacco. The keynote speaker, Ms. Archita Verma said that excess consumption of tobacco leads to various life-threatening problems like cancer which kills a large section of those affected. A quiz was also conducted after the event and the announced winners were given wards that will reach them soon.

WORKSHOP

  • Department of Chemistry organized Two daysonline National Workshop on “Mere SapnoKa Bharat –Atamnirbhar Bharat” was organized on February 12- 13, 2021. The eminent speakers Dr. AlokTripathi,Vice Chancellor, Sardar Patel University of Police,Jodhpur, Col.AjitPillai, Additional Director DRDO,Prof. Rajesh Gupta among top 2 % scientists in the world,Ms. Bhakti Sharma, SarpanchBarkhedi Abdullah, Ms. Anju Singh, President Women Wing, LaghuUdyogBharti,Mr. Angraj Swami,Social Entrepreneur, Prof. N.N Sharma, Pro President, Manipal University and Sh.SundaramVerma, Padma Shri awardee discussed and motivated the students to make India self-reliant with a vision and concern for the whole world’s happiness, cooperation and peace.In this workshop, Atamnirbhar Bharat schemes were explained to encourage the youth to try to start their own small scale industries.In addition, an online poster competition was organized for students on the theme of Atamnirbhar Bharat. Overall, 350 registrations for the lectures and 150 for the poster presentations were made on the online platform. Entries were received from all over the country.
  • Department of Physics organized Two days National Workshop on “Science through Experiments” was organized by Department of Physics under DBT Star Scheme on February 22-23, 2021. Prof. M.S.Marhwah,Chandigarh, Prof. Y.K. Vijay, Jaipur, Prof. B.N.Das,Kolkata. Mr.LakshmikantSharma,Pilibhit, Prof. A.K. Srivastav, Dholpur and Mr. G.S. Menaria, Jaipur have demonstrated various interesting science experiments on Tornado effect, waves and vibrations, atomic force and ordering lasers, plasma and Bernoulli’s theorem,surface tension, electromagnetism and Eddy currents. Dr B.N. Das exhibited experiments in optics and its various phenomenon’s and he also focused on science puzzles by simple examples and students got mesmerized by his way of presentation. About 322 UG students and 30 faculty members participated from different Colleges and Universities of Jaipur. The sessions were filled with the joy of dissipating knowledge and absorbing it then and there through the live experiments.
  • Department of Computer Science organized A one-day Workshop was organized on “Multimedia & Animation” by the Computer Science department on January 30, 2021. The expert from CADD Centre, Manager Carrier Guidance, Mr. S. Boobalan, interacted with the students to make them aware about the importance and applications of Multimedia & Animation with 3D animation and after effect tools. Students got the opportunity to get a hands-on experience by performing tasks practically.

GUEST LECTURES

  • A guest lecture was organized by the Department of Economics on February 23, 2021 and Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur Marwaha from Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh was the speaker. She enlightened the students about"The impact of Covid -19 on service sector of Indian economy."About 100 students attended the lecture and it was very interactive session with students asking questions on GDP,Government packages, losing job opportunities,transport and communication services etc.
  • The students of B.Sc. Biotechnology attended one day Lecture on “Bio-pesticides and patents” at Career Hub, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur on February 24, 2020. The students received participation certificates.
  • The Department of Psychology organized an online cum offline guest lecture on March 26, 2021. Ms.Ambika Warrier, a practicing hypnotherapist from New Delhi addressing the techniques of hypnosis, where the students and faculty members also had a hands-on practice on few techniques, with some of the students experiencing the Trans state

TRAINING PROGRAME

  • A scientific training activity for UG level Physics students was organized by Department of Physics under DBT Star Scheme on February16, 2021. Prof.Usha Chandra, former Principal, University Maharani College was invited to train the UG students. More than 40 students had joined the program and learned the use of CRO, operation amplifier and various optics experiments.
  • Entrepreneurship Development Programme was conducted from February 19- 24, 2021.The programme was organised by EMI department and sponsored by Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Cooperation (RSLDC) under Sankalp scheme for the awareness of students and professionals. The five-dayprogramme was split into 2 sessions. Around 110 students participated in two batches. The main purpose of this programme was to motivate youth and enhance their entrepreneurial skills among the different sections of the society and become future entreprenuers.
  • STTP- Phase I : A Short-Term Training Programme sponsored by AICTE under AQIS on “Character Building through Moral Values and Ethics” in online mode from March 22-27, 2021 was organized by the Department of Computer Science. This STTP was aimed for teachers, research scholars, academicians who are teaching various disciplines in colleges and universities. About 200 participants registered for this program. The event comprised of twelve sessions and keynote speakers in different sessions were Mr. Pradeep Jain, Mr. Neelesh Sharma, a faculty of Art of Living, Ms. Bhumika Sawlani, Ms. Mariyam Shahid, Mr. SachinJyotishi, Mr. Pradeep Jain and Er. Sugandha Parekh. The STTP was concluded with avaledictory session.
  • STTP- Phase II: Department of Computer Science has successfully organized a Short-Term Training Program sponsored by AICTE under AQIS on “Character Building through Moral Values and Ethics” in online mode from April 5-10, 2021.There were 160 participants registered for this program. The STTP was organised with a view to make the participants aware about Value Based Education, Human Values and it’s relevance, imparting Moral Values among students, obstacles in teaching Moral Education, enhancement of capabilities of Educators to identify and analyse Ethical Dilemma and Value based living according to Gandhian way of life and many more. STTP was inaugurated by Prof. K.B. Sharma, College Principal. The sessions were taken up by experts in their respective fields; Prof. Uma Joshi, Former Dean – Social Science, Humanities and Liberal Arts; Mr. Antriksh, Founder of Adyant Health and Practitioner of Mamra, Ayurvedic Acupressure and Acupuncture; Ms. Ambika Warrier, Founder of Aananda Centre for Counselling and Psychologist and Therapist; Dr.Vedabhyas Kundu, Programme Officer in Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti; Prof Vidya Jain,Former Principal,University Maharani’s College, Jaipur;Prof. Sushila Pareek, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and Dr. Anil Mehta, Retd. Professor, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The programme came to an end with the valedictory function followed by an online quiztest conducted by STTP Organizing Committee based on session covered during the 6 days STTP Programme.

Educational & Industrial Visits:

  • Department of History organized an educational visit for P.G. students to Amer Fort on December 11, 2020. The students took keen interest in the archaeological facts of the fort and got mesmerized by the fine carving and designing of the fort.
  • One day educational trip was organized to World Forestry Arboretum, Jhalana, Jaipur by Department of Botany on February13, 2021. The major objective was to familiarize the students with the flora and ecology of the region and to acquaint them with the importance of medicinal plants and other rare species. The students gained knowledge about the various rare species and collected plants for herbarium under the supervision of teachers.
  • Department of Chemistry organized an educational trip on February 24, 2021for UG & PG students to Material Research Centre, MNIT. The students visited all the laboratories of the center under the guidance of trained staff and enhanced their knowledge by observing practical functioning of the instruments. The students learnt the function of Abrasimaticabrasive cutter machine which is used for surface polishing of the substance and also visited another lab to get the know-how of ball milling used for prepararing nanoparticles. An overview of thin film deposition lab also excited them with lots of question and curiosity. The students were able to have an insight into the working of Mass spectrometer equipped with HPLC, NMR, Raman spectrophotometer, X-Ray spectrophotometer (to study Bragg equation) and XPLC. All the students has an enriched educational experience after the trip.
  • Department of Botany organized a one day educational trip to Sri Karan Narendra Agricultural University, Jobner on February 25, 2021 for UG and PG students. The objective of the trip was to identify the farming techniques and to learn that how farmers tackle day to day challenges. The functionality of water harvesting system, vermicomposting plant, green house farming and Poly house farming and hydroponics were shown and explained to the students. They also visited agricultural fair; the special attraction of this visit conducted by the University. One of our students actively participated in cultural program and won the prize in fair. The visit was fruitful for students as it enhanced their practical and field knowledge.
  • An industrial visit was organized for UG level students of Physics and Chemistry streams by Department of Physics under DBT Star Scheme on March 8, 2021 at Gravita India Ltd. Mahindra SEZ Jaipur, an esteemed Pvt. Ltd company. This was an extremely proactive experience for the UG Students. This visit helped them to know about recycling phenomenon of waste products and about fabrication works. This activity enhanced the learning skills of the students in interesting manner.
  • Department of Environmental Science and Zoology organized an educational trip cum workshop to Amrata Devi National Park, Jaipur on “Natural Resources Conservation in Natural Habitat” on March 10, 2021 with an objective of to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and development of forest.
  • One day educational trip was organized to World Forestry Arboretum, Jhalana, Jaipur by Department of Environmental Science and Zoology on March 10, 2021 to learn about the Biodiversity Conservation site that are key to combating climate change, and contribute to the prosperity and well-being of current and future generations. The arboretum has a botanical herbal garden with its natural flora and they introduced exotic species from various parts of the world. It was an experiential learning for all the students to know about many rare species of plants and wild life.
  • The students from Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology visited Ayush Raj Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., MansinghpuraBegus, Jaipur, a manufacturer of herbal extracts and herbal products on March 20, 2021 with the aim to enhance mastery of science subject matter and develop new technical or conceptual expertise and practical skills for implementation in their research work. The trip was quite useful and knowledgeable for the students.
  • Department of Biotechnology organized an educational trip to Entrepreneurship and Career Hub, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur on March 23, 2021 with the aim of stepping up the employability of students as well as instilling entrepreneurship and innovative skills in them.
  • The Department of Zoology and Environmental Science organized a one day trip cum workshop on March 24, 2021 for UG and PG students on “Natural Environment & Biodiversity Conservation” at Ranthambore National Park. This biological Park has been established with the objective of conserving endangered and threatened flora and fauna and motivating people to support the cause of wildlife conservation. In this chain, the students explored some exotic animals known to inhabit the park and learnt all great topics like animals’ behavior, nature, ecology, biodiversity and adaptations. This educational trip for students was an experiential and contextual learning process and a way of enhancing classroom learning by making real world connections.

Faculty Development Programme

  • A two day online Faculty Development Programme on “Essentials of Writing Research Papers and Case Studies for Reputed Journals” was organized on June 19-20,2020.In this first online endeavor of the college, Dr. Keyur Kumar Nayak,Director,Laxmi Institute of Management and Dr. AshaChawla, Associate Professor,GVM Girls College, Sonipat were the resource persons. More than 300 participants from various parts of the country attended the programme and keenly interacted with the experts.
  • Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized an International Faculty development programme on “Emerging Aspects of Research Methodology” from February 1-7, 2021. This FDP was jeweled by eminent speakers of national and international repute, Professor Ravindra Rene, Professor of Economics and Internationalization, Project Leader NWU Business School, North West University, Mahikeng, South Africa; Dr P. Malyadri, ICSSR Senior Fellow, Research Advisor in Commerce and Management, Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad; Prof. Ephraim-Stephen Essien, Ahamd u Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria; Prof. Rana Singh, CEO–IIIE, Ex. Vice Chancellor, Sanskriti University, Mathura & Former Director, Institutional Effectives(Q.A), University of Jazeera, Dubai UAE; Dr. S.C. Jain, Chairperson, Department Research Committee, Computer Science and Engineering and Board of Studies, MCA, Rajasthan Technical University, Kota, Rajasthan and Dr. C.R.Rene Robin, Professor and Dean (Innovation), Sairam Group of Institutions, Chennai shared their experience and expertise with the participants, academicians, scientists, faculty and research scholars.
  • This FDP effectively disseminated various mechanism and techniques adopted during the research processes.
  • Department of Chemistry organized one week International Faculty Development Programmeon “Recent Advancements in Chemical Sciences & Environmental Engineering” (RACSEE-2021) from February 15-19, 2021.Eminent speaker from globally renowned organizations of Germany, Japan and India as Prof. Sanjay Mathur, University of Cologne, Germany; Dr. Ankur Jain, Hiroshima University, Japan; Prof. Amritavas Das IISER, Kolkata; Dr. Asha Jain, Head, Department of Chemistry, University of Rajasthan; Dr. Manish Vashistha, Prof. H.D. Patel, Gujarat University; Prof. Kazuhiro Marumoto; Prof. Vimal Chandra Srivastava, IIT Roorkee; Prof. Neerav Raghav, Director, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Dr. Neelu Chouhan, University of Kota discussed on various recent topics like functional nanostructures for energy and health applications, the future use of hydrogen as a fuel, its storage and challenges to use it as a future source of energy, the use of mustard crop residue and its management for sustainable production of energy by treating it with sulphuric acid & converting it to charcoal, pervoskite solar cells and therapeutic wonders in and around us.More than 550 scholars and Intellectuals participated in this event.

Other Activities:

National Science Day

  • National Science Day was celebrated on March 1, 2021 memorizing our great scientist Sir C V Raman for his global contribution in the field of science and ignite this pure light in the hearts and minds of our upcoming young scientists with the theme assigned by DST "Future of STI: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work" under DBT Star Scheme. Chief Guest Prof. P. S. Verma, Former Chairman Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan; Presiding Guest S. L. Kothari, Vice President Amity University and Keynote speaker, Prof. ReenaMathur Former Head, Department of Zoology, University of Rajasthan graced the occasion. Young enthusiastic participants from different colleges participated in many activities like working models, non-working models, debate competition, quiz competition, poster making and short film making with full energy and interest. The eminent judges Dr S. N. Dolia, Department of Physics,University of Rajasthan; Dr. Vidya Patni, Joint Director, Centre for Converging Technologies,University of Rajasthan; Dr. G. P. Singh, Department of Botany, University of Rajasthan and Dr. Mary Joan, Radiological Physics Department, SMS Medical College & Hospital gave their judgment after inspecting each project. The valedictory function and grand felicitation ceremony were graced by Prof. Amla Batra, Former Principal, University Maharani’s College. Medals, trophies and consolation prizes were awarded to all the winners. Certificates were also given to all the participants to acknowledge their efforts.

COVID-19 related activities

After a dip in the COVID-19 cases and relief in the lockdown, Prof. K.B.Sharma, College Principal along with Dr. RichaSinghal and Ms. Farah Deeba met DCP, Traffic –Shri Rahul Prakash on June 18, 2020 for a humble contribution to the corona warriors-the traffic police officers, posted in various areas of Jaipur. The contribution was in the form of gloves and masks which would help them to safeguard against the deadly virus.
The Department of BBA organized a virtual expression competition titled "Hand Hygiene: A Key to Protect Yourself Against COVID-19" on the occasion of Global Hand Washing Day-October 15, 2020. Seventy seven students of the college participated in the event and expressed their views through videos, poems, short films and posters virtually. Winners were awarded and e- certificates were given to all the participants.

NGPE Exam

National Graduate Physics Examination was organized on January 24, 2021 for the Physics Graduation students. This test is hosted by a National body, Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) Dehradun to promotes the concepts of Physics among the under graduate students. A large number of students participated in the test and the qualified students shall receive benefits while seeking admissions to premier institutions ofhigher education.

Independence Day

India's 74th Independence Day was celebrated in the college campus as per the state government guidelines following the Covid appropriate behaviour on August 15, 2020. Prof. K.B.Sharma, College Principal unfurled the flag to mark the celebration of freedom and victory for the nation. The National Anthem was sung, followed by stirring speech by our institutional head advocating love for motherland and being together in the fight against evil pandemic forces.

Republic Day

Republic day was celebrated in college on January 26, 2021 with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The 72nd Republic Day celebration commenced with flag hoisting by College Principal Prof.K.B. Sharma amid the sounds of National Anthem. Then he addressed the staff and read the preamble which highlighted the importance of the Constitution and its unique features such as India as a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic and Republic state. He gave a heartening speech which gave an insight into the various accomplishments achieved by college and motivated the faculty for bringing more laurels for the college through their accomplishments. The event ended on an enthusiastic note that left the college community brimming with a sense of pride and patriotism.

COVID-19 Relief Fund

Subodh Siksha Samiti is a group of Philanthropists, which deeply believe in "Seva-Parmodharma". Along with quality education the Samiti has always extended its helping hands towards the social cause. During the fata spread of COVID-19, the Samiti has shown its sincere concern towards the society and Nation and donated Rs. one crore in the COVID-19 relief fund.
Realizing the duty of responsible citizens, the staff of the Subodh college, donated their two days salary in COVID-19 relief fund.

Teachers Day Celebration

Teachers Day is celebrated across the country on September 5 with great fervor in educational institutions to commemorate the birth anniversary of philosopher and academician Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. College was closed since March due to the lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic. This year staff members gave floral tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan following social distancing and other covid-19 guidelines. Like all other occasions it was also celebrated online. Students showed their gratitude to teachers and gave some cultural performances, speeches etc. from their houses.

Basant Panchmi

“Basant Panchmi” is an occasion which marks the advent of the spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. This day was celebrated in our college 0n Feburary16, 2021 with great fervor and enthusiasm. Yellow colour – representative of spiritual knowledge, is given importance on Basant Panchmi. The dress code of the teachers on that day was also yellow and all of us offered yellow colored flowers to the Goddess. All the staff members assembled together to pray and attain blessings from Goddess Saraswati to reach the epitome of knowledge. The pooja started with a beautiful Saraswativandana and after that Prasad was distributed. The whole campus enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings of Maa Saraswati.

Dandi March Anniversary Celebration

In an attempt to create awareness about “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” a lecture was organized on March12, 2021 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi March's anniversary in the auditorium of the college. The chief guest Sh. Rajendra Sen, official body member, Nehru Youth Centre, New Delhi instilled enthusiasm in the students by pouring light on the importance of freedom. The distinguished guest Sh.Bhuvnesh Jain, State Director, Nehru Youth Centre, Rajasthan elaborated the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava’ Programme with the feeling of national pride. Honoured guest Dr.Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Director, Gandhi Study Centre; Shri Dharamveer Katewa, Secretary, Indian Asthma Care Society and renowned philanthropist and Sh. Tarachand placed their views before the students about the importance of patriotism, Dandi March and sacrifice of Gandhi,Nehru and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The importance of self power and aspects of New Education Policy were also illustrated in the programme

Martyrs’ Day Celebration

Shaheed Diwas, also called Martyrs' Day, is celebrated in India on March 23 every year. Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar were hanged to death by the Britishers and they accepted it happily for the freedom of the country. On the eve of this remarkable day, March 22, 2021, Prof. Jagmohan Singh, the nephew of Late Shri Bhagat Singh and Sh.Aseem Rathore, the grandson of renowned revolutionary Late Sh. Mahaveer Singh, shared the valuable moments of patriotism which were lived by our revolutionaries. Former Advocate General Sh. G.S.Bafna also graced the programme for the encouragement of the guests. Sh. Jagmohan Singh talked about those untouched reminiscences of Late Sh. Bhagat Singh 's life which were enthralling for the students. Sh.Aseem Rathore told his grandfather Sh.
