Established in 1954 the department was upgraded to Post Graduation in 1993. All the sanctioned posts of the teachers are filled out of which two hold PhD as their highest degree and three are MPhil. Total number of teachers in the department is 11 out of which 05 are involved in PG classes. Non Teaching staff of the department includes lab assistant, attendants and peons.

One fully equipped computer laboratory with 20 computers, charts, models, two departmental computers, departmental library with 275 books and journals.

Faculty members participated in 15 National level seminars and conferences held at different places during last two years.

• The department aims to apply for major and minor research projects in coming five years.

• Department plans to hold one national / one international conference related to the various projects in coming five years.
