The Department of English was established in 1954. Number of post sanctioned is five and all are filled. Two faculty members hold PhD as their highest degree.

Faculty members participated in ten National/ International Level seminars and Conferences. They have organised two national level workshops and one international seminar. Department has collaboration with:

• IRIS.

• American Embassy.

• IACS (Indian Association of Canadian Studies). 

Priority Areas for Research

• Feminist Studies.

• Post Colonial Studies.                                                                                       

Plan of action of the department for next five years:

• Department aims to upgrade to PG department.

• Department aims to go for Minor/ Major research projects.

• Department aims to organise national and international conferences based on project topics.
