Department of Chemistry
Established in 1954 the department was upgraded to
Post Graduation in 2009. All the sanctioned posts of the teachers are filled.
Seven faculty members have PhD as their highest degree. Total number of teachers
in the department is 10 out of which 06 are involved in PG classes. Three of the
faculty members are working on Minor UGC projects in the department. Non
Teaching staff of the department includes lab assistant, lab technician, lab boy
and peon.
The department of Chemistry has three laboratories
and one physical as well as one research laboratories with sufficient chemicals,
glass-wares and equipment. The department also has facilities like distillation
plant, fuming chamber and UV spectrophotometer etc along with three departmental
computers, departmental library with about 236 books and ten journals.
Faculty members participated in 25 National Level
seminars and Conferences held at different places during last two years. We also
organised a national seminar on environmental pollution.

Plan of action of the department for next five
years

The department aims to
apply for more major and minor research projects in coming five years.

Department also plans to
hold one national and one international conference and work shops related to
the projects it will undertake in coming five years.
